2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped and patted dry
-
1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips
-
Optional: 1–2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice (for a pink tint and extra flavor)
Instructions
Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, beat together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. If desired, add cherry juice for color and flavor.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until combined.
Fold in Cherries and Chocolate Chips:
Gently fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
Scoop Dough:
Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake:
Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden. Do not overbake—cookies will continue to set as they cool.
Cool and Enjoy:
Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm or store in an airtight container.
