🍫 Chocolate Lava Cake for Two: Decadence Made Easy

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

  • – 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • – 2 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate (high quality), chopped

  • – 1 large egg

  • – 1 large egg yolk

  • – 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • – 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • – 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • – Pinch of salt

  • – Optional: Powdered sugar, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly butter and flour two 6-oz ramekins (or spray with non-stick spray and dust with cocoa powder).

  2. Melt butter and chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate together in 20-second intervals, stirring between, until smooth. Let cool slightly.

  3. Mix eggs and sugar: In a separate bowl, whisk egg, egg yolk, sugar, and vanilla until thick and pale.

  4. Combine: Slowly pour in the melted chocolate mixture, whisking continuously. Then gently fold in flour and salt until just combined.

  5. Pour batter evenly into prepared ramekins. Place ramekins on a baking sheet.

  6. Bake for 11–13 minutes, until edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  7. Cool briefly for 1–2 minutes, then run a knife around edges and invert onto plates.

  8. Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, a scoop of ice cream, or whipped cream! 🍦✨
