Baked Peach Dumplings in Sweet Cinnamon Syrup – Easy Southern Dessert Recipe

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale

2 large ripe peaches, peeled and sliced into 8 wedges
1 (8 oz) can crescent roll dough
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup Sprite, 7UP, or ginger ale (for syrup)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Lightly grease an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish.

  • Wrap the Peaches:

    • Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles.

    • Place one peach slice at the wide end of each triangle and roll it up.

    • Arrange the wrapped peaches in the prepared baking dish.

  • Make the Syrup:

    • In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

    • Stir in sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix until combined (it will be grainy—this is okay).

    • Pour the mixture evenly over the dumplings.

  • Add the Soda:

    • Gently pour soda around (not over) the dumplings in the dish to create the syrup.

  • Bake:

    • Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the syrup is bubbly and thickened.

  • Serve:

    • Let cool slightly before serving.

    • Enjoy warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
