Ingredients

4 slices artisan bread (like sourdough or rustic white)

1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

4 oz Havarti cheese, sliced

2 tbsp black cherry preserves

1–2 tsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped (adjust to taste)

Optional: fresh arugula or baby spinach for a peppery bite
Instructions

Make the Cherry-Chipotle Spread:

In a small bowl, mix the black cherry preserves with the chopped chipotle peppers until well combined.

Taste and adjust the heat level by adding more or less chipotle as desired.

Assemble the Sandwiches:

Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.

On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the Havarti cheese evenly.

Spoon the black cherry chipotle spread over the cheese.

Add a handful of arugula or spinach if using.

Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.

Grill the Sandwiches:

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

Grill the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing slightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.

Slice in half and serve warm, optionally with a side of chips, salad, or pickles.
