Ingredients
-
1 bag frozen French fries (or about 4 cups homemade fries)
-
1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans, your choice)
-
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack)
-
1 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling on fries, optional)
-
2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)
-
1 tbsp sour cream (optional, for serving)
-
Jalapeño slices (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
-
Cook the Fries:
-
Prepare the frozen French fries according to the package instructions (typically in the oven or air fryer).
-
For homemade fries, slice potatoes into thin strips, toss with olive oil, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
-
-
Heat the Chili:
-
While the fries are cooking, heat the chili in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
-
-
Assemble the Chili Cheese Fries:
-
Once the fries are crispy and golden, transfer them to a serving plate or dish.
-
Pour the warm chili over the fries, then sprinkle with a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese.
-
-
Melt the Cheese:
-
Place the dish in the oven under the broiler for about 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly (watch carefully to prevent burning).
-
-
Garnish & Serve:
-
Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and jalapeño slices for some extra flavor and heat.
-
Serve with a dollop of sour cream on the side, if desired.
