Chili Cheese Fries Recipe: A Delicious, Easy Comfort Food

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag frozen French fries (or about 4 cups homemade fries)

  • 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans, your choice)

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling on fries, optional)

  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)

  • 1 tbsp sour cream (optional, for serving)

  • Jalapeño slices (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  • Cook the Fries:

    • Prepare the frozen French fries according to the package instructions (typically in the oven or air fryer).

    • For homemade fries, slice potatoes into thin strips, toss with olive oil, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.

  • Heat the Chili:

    • While the fries are cooking, heat the chili in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

  • Assemble the Chili Cheese Fries:

    • Once the fries are crispy and golden, transfer them to a serving plate or dish.

    • Pour the warm chili over the fries, then sprinkle with a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese.

  • Melt the Cheese:

    • Place the dish in the oven under the broiler for about 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly (watch carefully to prevent burning).

  • Garnish & Serve:

    • Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions and jalapeño slices for some extra flavor and heat.

    • Serve with a dollop of sour cream on the side, if desired.
