Ingredients
12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or your favorite)
1 lb sausage (use turkey sausage or chicken sausage if preferred)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Pasta: Boil the pasta in salted water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage (removed from casings if using links) and cook, breaking it into pieces, until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
Make the Sauce: Stir in diced tomatoes (with their juice), heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Add Sausage and Pasta: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, followed by the drained pasta. Mix well to coat everything in the creamy sauce.
Serve: Garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm.
