Ingredients
For the Casserole:
1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 (24 oz) jar marinara or pizza sauce
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
8 oz rotini pasta (uncooked)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup pepperoni slices
½ cup black olives (optional)
½ green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
For Garnish:
Fresh parsley
Grated Parmesan
Instructions
Prepare the Meat:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef or sausage with chopped onion until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Assemble the Casserole:
3. In the crockpot, layer half of the meat mixture, half of the marinara sauce, and half of the uncooked pasta.
4. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese, pepperoni slices, and optional olives or peppers.
5. Repeat layers, finishing with cheese and pepperoni on top.
Cook:
6. Cover and cook on Low for 4 hours or High for 2 hours, until pasta is tender and cheese is melted.
Serve:
7. Garnish with fresh parsley and Parmesan. Serve hot with garlic bread or a side salad.
