Ingredients
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine or dry sherry (optional)
1 teaspoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 large yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 green onions, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Cooked white rice, for serving
Instructions

Marinate the Beef:

In a bowl, toss beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, Shaoxing wine (if using), and sesame oil.

Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.

Sear the Beef:

Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.

Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side, until browned but not overcooked.

Remove and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Onions:

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet.

Stir-fry sliced onions for 3–4 minutes until they begin to soften and char slightly.

Add garlic and sugar; stir for another 30 seconds.

Combine and Finish:

Return the beef to the skillet and toss with the onions until everything is well combined and heated through (about 1 minute).

Garnish with green onions if desired.
