Easy Homemade Stromboli Recipe with Fresh Dough: The Ultimate Guide to Delicious, Freshly Baked Stromboli at Home

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh pizza dough

  • 1/2 cup pizza or marinara sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked Italian sausage

  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)

  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 10×14 inches).

3. Layer the Fillings:
Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with mozzarella, pepperoni or sausage, bell peppers, olives, and Italian seasoning.

4. Roll It Up:
Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the edges to seal and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.

5. Brush with Egg Wash:
Brush the top with the beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

6. Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

7. Cool and Slice:
Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil if desired.
