  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

  • – 1 cup water

  • – 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • – 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • – 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • – 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • – Oil, for frying

For Coating:

  • – 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • – 1/4 cup cocoa powder

For Dipping Sauce:

  • – 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • – 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough:
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.

  2. Heat Oil:
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large, deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).

  3. Pipe Churros:
Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips into the hot oil, cutting dough with scissors.

  4. Fry:
Fry churros in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  5. Coat Churros:
Mix sugar and cocoa powder in a shallow bowl. Roll warm churros in the mixture until coated evenly.

  6. Make Chocolate Sauce:
Heat heavy cream until simmering, then pour over chopped chocolate. Let sit 1 minute, then stir until smooth.

  7. Serve:
Serve churros warm with chocolate dipping sauce.
