Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg
-
2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp Italian seasoning

Salt & pepper, to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

2 large onions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp butter
-
2 cups beef broth
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried)

1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
Instructions

In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt & pepper. Shape into meatballs.

Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt butter and cook onions low and slow until caramelized, about 20–25 minutes.

Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Stir well.

Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer in the onion sauce for 10–15 minutes until cooked through.

Sprinkle cheese over the top, cover until melted.

Serve warm with crusty bread or over mashed potatoes.
