Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef (or sausage, ground turkey, or a mix)
-
1/2 cup pepperoni or cooked bacon, chopped
-
1/2 cup sautéed onions or bell peppers (optional)
-
1/4 cup banana peppers or jalapeños (optional, for a kick)
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup pizza sauce, marinara, or ranch (plus more for dipping)
-
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1 refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade)
-
1 tablespoon butter, melted
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
-
Parsley or red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef until fully cooked. Drain fat.
Add pepperoni (or bacon), any optional veggies, pizza sauce or ranch, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes until combined. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in cheese.
Assemble Garbage Bread:
Roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface (about 9×13 inches).
Spread the meat and cheese mixture evenly down the center, leaving a border. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll up tightly like a jelly roll, pinching edges to seal. Place seam-side down on the prepared sheet.
Top It Off:
Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese.
Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Serve:
Slice into thick rounds and serve with extra sauce for dipping. Perfect for parties, game night, or when you’re cleaning out the fridge!
