Hearty Cabbage Beef Bake Recipe: A Delicious and Nutritious Comfort Food

500 g (1 lb) ground beef

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 onion (finely chopped)

2 cloves garlic (minced)

1 carrot (grated)

½ head of cabbage (chopped)

1 can diced tomatoes (400 g / 14 oz)

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 cup cooked rice

1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)


Instructions

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

 

In a large skillet, heat oil and sauté the onion and garlic for 2 minutes.

 

Add ground beef and cook until browned.

 

Stir in grated carrot, cabbage, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and seasonings. Simmer for 10 minutes until cabbage softens.

 

Mix in the cooked rice and combine well.

 

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with shredded cheese.

 

Bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.

 

Serve warm and enjoy!
