Quick & Easy Homemade Butter Chicken Recipe

  • 1 lb boneless chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp ginger paste

  • 1 tbsp garam masala

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional, for heat)

  • 1 cup tomato sauce (or crushed tomatoes)

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  • Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, sauté onion, garlic, and ginger until fragrant.

  • Stir in garam masala, cumin, paprika, and chili powder. Cook for 1 minute.

  • Add tomato sauce, heavy cream, and yogurt. Stir well to combine.

  • Return chicken to the pan, season with salt & pepper, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until cooked through and sauce thickens.

  • Garnish with fresh cilantro.

 

  • Serve hot with naan bread or steamed rice.
