Rustic Apple Galette Recipe – A Perfect Homemade Dessert

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (or homemade)

  • 3 medium apples, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp flour (to coat apples)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp coarse sugar (for sprinkling)

  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, toss apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.

  • Roll out pie crust on the baking sheet. Arrange apple mixture in the center, leaving about 2 inches around the edges.

  • Fold edges of crust over apples, pleating as needed to form a rustic shape.

  • Brush crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, until crust is golden and apples are tender.

 

  • Cool slightly, then serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
