  • Author: Neriah

Description

Discover how to make creamy Shrimp and Grits, a classic Southern dish that combines succulent shrimp with cheesy grits for ultimate comfort.

Ingredients

• 1 cup grits

• 4 cups water

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

• 1/4 cup butter

• 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

• 1 tablespoon olive oil

• 1/2 cup chicken broth

• 1/4 teaspoon paprika

• 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

• 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

• 1 tablespoon lemon juice

• 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

1. In a pot, bring water and salt to a boil. Slowly stir in the grits, reduce heat to low, and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

2. Once grits are done, stir in butter and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm.

3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add shrimp, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Cook shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they turn pink.

4. Add chicken broth and lemon juice to the skillet, stirring to combine. Simmer for 2 minutes until sauce slightly thickens.

5. Serve shrimp over the warm cheesy grits. Garnish with chopped green onions.
