Spiced Apple Cider Donuts Recipe: A Cozy Homemade Fall Treat

  • 1 cup apple cider

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp allspice

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Coating:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 3 tbsp melted butter


Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, simmer apple cider over medium heat until reduced to about 1/4 cup. Let cool.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt.

  • In another bowl, mix melted butter, sugars, buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and reduced cider until smooth.

  • Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring just until mixed.

  • Spoon batter into donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

  • Bake 10–12 minutes, until donuts spring back when touched.

  • Let cool slightly, then brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
