Spicy Cajun Pasta with Sausage: A Bold and Flavorful Dinner Recipe

  • 12 oz pasta (penne or fettuccine)

  • 1 lb smoked sausage (sliced)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion (diced)

  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 1 bell pepper (sliced, any color)

  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)

  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:

    • Boil pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  • Cook the Sausage:

    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Add sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

  • Sauté the Vegetables:

    • In the same skillet, add onion, garlic, and bell pepper.

    • Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.

  • Make the Sauce:

    • Add diced tomatoes (with juice), heavy cream, chicken broth, Cajun seasoning, paprika, and red pepper flakes.

    • Stir well and let simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Combine Everything:

    • Return the cooked sausage to the pan and stir in Parmesan cheese.

    • Add the drained pasta and toss until fully coated in the sauce.

    • Simmer for another 2 minutes, adjusting seasoning if needed.

 

  • Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan.

    • Serve hot with garlic bread or a side salad.
