Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Lime Sauce Recipe – Zesty, Flavorful & Easy

For the Shrimp:
  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp (peeled & deveined)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to spice preference)

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • Juice of 1 lime

For the Avocado Lime Sauce:
  • 1 ripe avocado

  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 garlic clove

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro

  • 2 tablespoons water (or more for consistency)

For Serving:
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix

  • ½ cup diced tomatoes

  • ½ cup crumbled queso fresco or feta cheese

  • Fresh cilantro & lime wedges for garnish


Instructions

  • Prepare the Shrimp:

    • In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.

    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, then cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred.

    • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the shrimp and set aside.

  • Make the Avocado Lime Sauce:

    • Blend avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, salt, cilantro, and water until smooth. Adjust thickness with more water if needed.

  • Assemble the Tacos:

    • Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.

    • Layer each tortilla with cabbage, spicy shrimp, diced tomatoes, cheese, and drizzle with avocado lime sauce.

 

  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Garnish with fresh cilantro and lime wedges.
