  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Instructions

Prepare Brownie Batter

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, whisk melted butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla.

  • Stir in cocoa, flour, and salt until combined.

  • Spread evenly into the prepared pan.

2. Prepare Cookie Dough

  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter with sugars until light and fluffy.

  • Mix in the egg and vanilla.

  • Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

3. Assemble Brookies

  • Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough evenly over the brownie batter.

  • Gently press them down slightly without fully covering the brownie layer.

4. Bake

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).

  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
