Ingredients
-
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
-
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
3/4 cup granulated sugar
-
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
🍪 Cookie Layer Ingredients:
-
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
-
1/2 cup brown sugar
-
1/4 cup granulated sugar
-
1 large egg
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or grease it well.
🍫 Make the Brownie Layer:
-
In a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate chips together until smooth.
-
Stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar.
-
Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
-
Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt; stir just until combined.
-
Pour into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
🍪 Make the Cookie Layer:
-
In a separate bowl, cream softened butter with brown and granulated sugar until fluffy.
-
Beat in egg and vanilla.
-
Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix until just combined.
-
Fold in chocolate chips.
-
Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer. Gently press to spread (doesn’t have to cover completely — it’ll spread in the oven).
🔥 Bake:
-
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
-
For fudgier brookies, bake closer to 30 minutes.
-
Let cool completely before cutting for clean squares (or dig in warm for melty magic!).
