The Ultimate Guide to Grilled Lobster Tails: Step-by-Step Recipe & Tips

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails (56 oz each)

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Lemon wedges, for serving

  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Lobster Tails:

    • Using kitchen shears, cut down the top shell of each lobster tail, stopping at the tail fan.

    • Gently pull the meat out and rest it on top of the shell, keeping it attached at the base.

  • Make the Garlic Butter:

    • In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper.

    • Brush half of the mixture generously over the lobster meat.

  • Preheat the Grill:

    • Heat grill to medium-high (about 400°F / 200°C).

    • Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.

  • Grill the Lobster Tails:

    • Place tails meat side up on the grill.

    • Close the lid and cook for 5–7 minutes, basting once or twice with more garlic butter.

    • Flip and grill meat side down for 1–2 minutes to get light char marks.

    • Lobster is done when the meat is opaque and firm, and internal temp reaches 135–140°F (57–60°C).

  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Drizzle with remaining garlic butter, garnish with parsley, and serve with lemon wedges.
