Ingredients

4 cups green beans, trimmed and cut (fresh or frozen)

1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup

1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)

1 tsp soy sauce (adds umami)

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 ½ cups crispy fried onions, divided

Salt, to taste (if needed)
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven:

Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare Green Beans:

If using fresh green beans: Blanch in boiling salted water for 5 minutes, then transfer to ice water. Drain well.

If using frozen: Thaw and drain.
3. Mix Casserole Base:

In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, pepper, and 2/3 cup fried onions.

Stir in green beans until fully coated.
4. Assemble & Bake:

Pour mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.

Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until hot and bubbly.
5. Add Crispy Topping:

Remove casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining fried onions on top.

Return to the oven and bake 5–10 more minutes, or until onions are golden and crisp.
