30-Minute Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks: A Quick and Flavorful Twist on a Classic

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or more to taste)

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns

  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for toasting buns)

Instructions

1. Cook the veggies:

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil.

  • Add sliced peppers and onions. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until softened.

  • Add minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. Brown the beef:

  • In the same skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spatula.

  • Drain excess grease if needed.

  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning (if using).

3. Combine & melt the cheese:

  • Return sautéed peppers and onions to the skillet with the beef.

  • Stir to combine, then top with provolone cheese slices.

  • Cover skillet with a lid and let cheese melt over the mixture (about 1–2 minutes).

  • Stir gently to combine.

4. Prepare the rolls:

  • Lightly butter the insides of the hoagie rolls (optional) and toast them in a pan or oven until golden.

5. Assemble the sandwiches:

  • Spoon the cheesy ground beef mixture into the toasted buns.

  • Serve hot with chips, fries, or a fresh green salad.
