Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole: The Ultimate Comfort Food

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • ½ onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon mustard

  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots

  • ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional)

  • ½ cup pickles, chopped (optional)

  • ½ cup diced tomatoes (optional)

  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)


Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Cook the Beef Mixture:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until the meat is browned.

    • Drain excess grease, then add garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and mustard.

    • Stir and let simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat.

  • Assemble the Casserole:

    • Spread the beef mixture evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

    • Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.

    • Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.

  • Bake the Casserole:

    • Place in the oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, until the tater tots are golden and crispy.

  • Add Toppings & Serve:

    • Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup cheese over the top and bake for 5 more minutes until melted.

    • Garnish with bacon, pickles, tomatoes, and green onions if using.
