Easy Sausage and Cabbage Stir Fry (30-Minutes)

  • 1 lb smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 23 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 12 carrots, julienned or sliced (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (for brightness)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Red pepper flakes (optional for heat)


Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage:
    In a large skillet over medium heat, add sausage slices and cook until browned (about 5–6 minutes). Remove and set aside.

  2. Sauté the aromatics:
    In the same skillet, add olive oil and sauté the onion for 2–3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

  3. Add the cabbage and carrots:
    Toss in the sliced cabbage (and carrots if using). Stir-fry for 6–8 minutes until cabbage is tender but still a bit crisp.

  4. Season and combine:
    Return the sausage to the skillet. Add soy sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir everything together and cook another 2–3 minutes until well combined.

  5. Serve warm.
    This dish goes great on its own or served over rice or noodles.
