Easy Southern Strawberry Sweet Tea Recipe: A Refreshing Classic with a Fruity Twist

  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups water, divided

  • 4 black tea bags

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (optional, reduces bitterness)

  • Ice, for serving

  • Fresh mint and sliced strawberries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Brew the Tea:
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and let steep for 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and stir in baking soda if using.

2. Make the Strawberry Syrup:
In another saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, 2 cups of water, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Mash strawberries gently and strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove pulp and seeds.

3. Combine:
In a large pitcher, combine brewed tea and strawberry syrup. Stir well, then refrigerate until chilled.

4. Serve:
Serve over ice and garnish with fresh mint and strawberry slices if desired. Enjoy cold and refreshing!
