  • Author: Hannah

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)

  • 12 jalapeños (seeded and finely chopped)

  • ¾ cup buttermilk (cold)

  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for a hint of sweetness)

  • 1 tbsp butter (melted, for brushing)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.

  • Incorporate Butter:

    • Add cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Add Cheese & Jalapeños:

    • Stir in shredded cheddar and chopped jalapeños.

  • Form the Dough:

    • Pour in cold buttermilk and honey, then mix until just combined. Do not overwork the dough.

  • Shape the Biscuits:

    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface, pat it down to about ¾-inch thickness, and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.

  • Bake:

    • Place biscuits on the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

  • Finish & Serve:

    • Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
