  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional for extra depth)

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

  • Cooked white or jasmine rice, for serving

  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned and cooked through. Drain excess grease.

  • Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce (if using), rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.

  • Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.

  • Remove from heat and stir in chopped green onions.

  • Serve over a bed of warm rice, topped with sesame seeds if desired.
