Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a madeleine pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly before mixing it with the powdered sugar.
  4. Add eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract until combined.
  6. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for placing on top.
  8. Spoon the batter into the madeleine molds, filling them about 3/4 full.
  9. Top each madeleine with a few reserved chocolate chips.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are firm but the centers are soft.
  11. Allow the madeleines to cool for a few minutes in the pan before transferring to a rack.
