Delightful Lace Cookies Inspired by Grandma

Grandma’s Classic Lace Cookies made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until fully combined.
  • Add in flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract.
  • If using, fold in chopped nuts.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spaced apart.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
