Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until fully combined.
- Add in flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract.
- If using, fold in chopped nuts.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spaced apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
