Ingredients

  • 1 baguette sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 8 slices of thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
  • 1/2 cup fig jam
  • Arugula for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Bake the bread for about 10-12 minutes until golden and crisp.
  • While the bread is baking, prepare the bacon.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Remove bacon from the skillet and transfer to a paper towel to drain excess fat.
  • In a bowl, mix the cooked bacon, brown sugar, maple syrup, and black pepper together.
  • Return the glazed bacon to the skillet over low heat, stirring until the sugar is melted and bubbling.
  • Spread softened cream cheese on each toasted baguette slice.
  • Add a spoonful of fig jam on top of the cream cheese.
  • Top with the candied bacon mixture and sprinkle chives on top.
  • Finish with a small handful of arugula for garnish and serve immediately.
