Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons vegan yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • In another bowl, mix together the wet ingredients: oil, almond milk, apple cider vinegar, vegan yogurt, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, frost as desired with your favorite vegan frosting.
